LORETTA GODFREY, PRODUCER

Producer Loretta S. Godfrey, stage name Zulieka, has an extensive background in many forms of dance. She has studied belly dance with internationally recognized stars.

Pre-pandemic, she performed with several dance groups in San Diego, and was once a member of a “feral ballerinas” group! ( So referred to because it was not affiliated with a formal ballet company – thank you to cartoonist Stephen Pastis for the “feral ballerina” term.)

She got her start as a performer at one of the country’s longest-running summer theaters. Many familiar names also got their start there. She studied at a university theater department that has produced recognized stars of television and movies, and award winning Broadway directors.

 Zulieka has been performing, and studying belly dance, since 2008. “I love the music, the movements, and the costumes! Especially the costumes! (Oooh! Sparkly!)

Currently, in addition to The Alcove, she performs as a soloist, and in ensembles, at various venues in San Diego County.
